Cross-docking service in Barcelona for your supply chain
Cross-docking: we receive, sort and ship your goods without storing them
Direct receiving and dispatch from our warehouse in Sabadell, on the doorstep of Barcelona
Cross-docking is a logistics operation in which goods arriving at the warehouse are not put away in stock locations, but sorted and prepared for direct dispatch to their destination. At Disnet we offer a cross-docking service in Barcelona backed by more than 35 years of experience in logistics.
What cross-docking is and what it is for
With cross-docking, goods pass through the warehouse as a transfer point: they are received, identified, regrouped and shipped, keeping the time on site to a minimum. This reduces intermediate storage and unnecessary handling.
Direct and indirect cross-docking
In direct cross-docking, the goods received are moved to the dispatch area with no significant intermediate operation. In indirect cross-docking, some operation is carried out before dispatch, such as separating, consolidating, labelling or creating packs.
How we do cross-docking at Disnet
The process is defined with each customer according to their operation, but it always follows an orderly, traceable sequence.
1. We plan the operation with you
Before the goods arrive we agree what we will receive, how it will be identified and where it has to go, so the flow is prepared in advance.
2. We receive and check the goods
We carry out goods receiving with logistics quality control and record any incident on the spot.
3. We sort and, if needed, handle
We regroup the goods by destination and, when necessary, carry out labelling or packs through our goods handling or order picking service.
4. We ship with traceability
We hand each shipment to the most suitable carrier for its destination through our freight transport service, with tracking from our WMS.
When cross-docking makes sense and how it differs from storage
It fits when the goods already have a known destination on arrival and do not need to stay in stock. Common cases include consolidating shipments from several suppliers, delivering to points of sale or end customers, or splitting a large order into several smaller shipments.
Cross-docking versus traditional storage
With traditional storage, goods are put away, inventoried and wait until they are ordered. Cross-docking aims for the opposite: keeping the time on site to a minimum and shortening the path between receiving and dispatch.
Many companies combine both models: part of the goods goes through cross-docking and part is stored. With our 3PL logistics operator service you can manage both flows with a single point of contact.

What is cross-docking?
It is a logistics operation in which received goods are sorted and shipped to their destination without going through traditional storage.
